Towards Fedaia Pass

This mountain bike itinerary is indicated to all those who have already experience of hundreds of kilometers on legs and are willing to face an uphill during the preparation season. The uphill to the Fedaia Pass, in fact, is not so difficult except for the last 3 km; it's not so long, there are "only" 12 km from Canazei and a total hight difference of 600 m. Estimated time from Canazei - 1 hour.

Departing from Canazei, follow the road SS48 until you enter the SS641 by turning right. At the beginning you will cross the center of the town and then, passed the traffic circle, the road will start to rise up entering then in Alba Canazei. Reached the center of the town, after a short downhill you will have a long uphill with no more pauses, until the peak of the pass. At this point you will be arrived to Penia and after other 7,5 km you will finish the itinerary. Have a good time!
At the top of the Fedaia Pass you can admire the Marmolada glacier with the artificial Fedaia lake that costs the road for about 2 km. Afterwards, you will follow on a flat track for several km and then noise dive on the other mountainside towards the Belluno Province.

Fedaia Pass - Cencenighe - San Pellegrino Pass

This is one of the most difficult cycling itineraries. 90 km of length, 1900 m of hight difference and a challenging uphill like the one to San Pellegrino Pass, with 18% of grade line. You should then have a really good preparation to face this itinerary having fun. You should keep in mind that the toughest uphill track will come after you have 1300 m of hight difference in your legs. The itinerary is in circle and can be started in any town of the Fassa Valley; the passes to face are Fedaia (2057 m) - 1465 m from Canazei and San Pellegrino (1918 m) - 773 m from Cencenighe.

After you have reached the peak of Fedaia Pass, you will have a long donwhill towards Cencenighe (about 27 km). It's a very steep and fast downhill. After you have passed the Ciapela Hut (1450 m) the downhill can be made by using the pedals until Caprile (1042 m). Continue in direction of Belluno and after 5 almost flat km you will reach the Alleghe village (979 m) with its characteristic lake bearing the same name. After you have crossed the center of the village you will have another downhill track for 8 km until you are close to Cencenighe, that represents the lowest point in all the hike. By turning right you will enter the road SP 346 in direction of Falcade; from this point you will have an uphill for 18,5 km with few curves at the beginning and until the Falcade village (1140 m), going again uphill through the Biois Valley and then through a long track full of hairpin bends that climb up to San Pellegrino Pass.

Fedaia Pass - Livinallongo - Pordoi Pass

This is a ring itinerary that departs from Canazei (1465 m), is about 68 km long and a total hight difference of 1700 m given by the fact that first you cross the Fedaia Pass at 2057 m and then Pordoi Pass at 2239 m. Even though the passes to cross are only two, the hight difference is rather big and therefore it is better for you to be very well trained before starting this hike, also because this way you will better enjoy the panorama and spend less effort on uphills. Estimated time: 3 ½ hours.

Once you reached the Fedaia Pass Peak, you have a little rest admiring the Marmolada's glacier and then you start a steep and long downhill (for more than 15 km) towards Caprile. Continue until the hight of the village Rocca Pietore (1143 m), leaving the Fassa Valley behind you. Once you crossed the village, by turning right you will enter the road SP 563, that in a bit more than 10 km goes uphill for some 400 m until reaching the road SR 48 near Pieve di Livinallongo (1475 m). In front of the crossroads with the road SR 48 you should turn left and start a beautiful track with many ups and downs until 2 km to Arabba village. At Arabba you star the official uphill for 9 km and 33 hairpin bends. At the top of Pordoi Pass take a little break and admire the panoramic view in front of you: on the right the Sass Pordoi massif (2950 m), taking part of the Sella group, and of the left the Sass Becé (2397 m); strait ahead in the distance you have the dominating Sassolungo group. Afterwards, all you have to do is enjoy your downhill to Canazei.
