Trekking

In higher Fassa Valley there are many possibilities to practice hiking. Paths and walks at the feet of the mountain or at high altitude, "legendary" trekking, equipped routes, huts where to taste milk and cheese. Itineraries for everybody, more o less difficult, that bring you intense emotions. It's really worth to come to this valley also only if you want to admire the Enrosadira phenomenon, according to which some of the Dolomites' peaks assume a red color that gradually falls into violet, especially during the dusk and the dawn, when the air is very limpid and the sun sets to the West.
This phenomenon appears thanks to the rocky walls of the Dolomites (formed by the Dolomia containing Dolomite, a mix of calcium carbonate and magnesium), and it has different visibilities, especially it's visible on the Catinaccio-Rosengarten mountains.

Forget about the car! In Alta Fassa during summer you can reach the walking routes also by the Sellaronda shuttle service and as well thanks to the public transport buses.

Enrosadira
The King Laurin's leggend tells that the king of the dwarfs had grown a splendid garden of roses on Catinaccio (Rosengarten indeed means garden of roses).
One day, the prince of Latemar, eager to see the roses, went to the kingdom of Laurin and saw his daughter Ladinia, fell in love with her and then kidnapped her to make her marry him. The king, desperate, has launched a curse on his garden of roses because he retained it was this garden's fault that Latemar discovered the position of his kingdom: from that moment on nobody could admire it anymore. Laurin though has forgotten about the dusk and dawn.
